Acco
Rexel Laminators
Protect and enhance documents by laminating them with an Acco
Rexel laminator from ABT. Lamination is ideal for frequently
handled documents, notices, price lists, menus, ID badges, for
signs and presentations.
There are many types of laminators
available, each more suitable for certain laminating scenarios.
There are also two types of laminating pouch finishes - matt or
gloss, with gloss being the more popular and the cheaper.
Pouch Laminators
Pouch laminators use small, compact and easy to use laminating
pouches. These types of laminators are typically used in schools,
churches, restaurants, homes and other businesses and are used
to laminate photographs, business cards, photo IDs, menus and
more. You slide the printed material into a pouch that is sealed
on one to three sides. Then the laminator does the rest of the
job of sealing. This provides a nice finished edge to a standard
size sheet or can be trimmed closer to the edge of a smaller project.
Roll Laminators
If you have large materials you with to laminate or need to
laminate large amounts or smaller materials then a roll laminator
should be used. Roll laminators are commonly used for laminating
posters, signs and banners. There are two basic types of laminators,
sheet and film laminators. With film laminating, you are not limited
to the length of the laminating sheet. The only size restrictions
are in the width and the roll of film can go on and on for the
length of the entire roll of film if you wish.
Microns
A micron is the term used to measure the thickness of the lamination
sheet. The higher the micron the thicker the sheet, and so the
more rigid the finish when laminated.
Hot and Cold
Cold laminators require cold laminating pouches and these machines
are cheap as the do not have a heating element; however the pouches
are a lot more expensive and harder to find.
When choosing a laminator you need to consider the
following. How often will you be laminating papers or documents?
Should you need to laminate frequently then the speed of the machine
will be important and typically a high performance or office laminator
will do. You will also need to consider what size documents you
will be laminating. Be sure to select a laminator that can laminate
large documents.
How will you be using the laminated documents? If the documents
will have to stand up to extensive handling then more protection
and rigidity are required
